FAITH IN ACTION

Educating our students about the gospel messages and helping to prepare them for the holy sacraments of first communion, reconciliation and confirmation is only half of the religious philosophy of St. William School. The other half is putting our lessons into action -- faith in action.

Our students consistently volunteer at the Bethesda Home -- a senior care & rehab facility -- throughout the year. They raise money for various charities, such as Operation Rice Bowl and Catholic Charities, through rummage and bake sales. Our student council annually fills baby bottles with money and donates them to the Chicago Women's Center. The money we raise on our out-of-uniform Monday Missions go straight to the Missionary Childhood Association. Annual fundraisers support the School Sisters of St. Francis -- our founders. Our sixth graders stock, organize and package food for the St. Vincent DePaul Society Food Pantry every year. Our student volunteer ambassadors give tours of the school and are constantly assisting the office in jobs around St. William School.

There are new volunteer opportunities for our students every year as we ensure their spiritual formation in the classroom is paired with social justice action outside of the classroom.
