  What We're All About
Building the foundation for a solid education and a good life.

Welcome to St. William!

St. William School is a Catholic Elementary School for pre-school through eighth grade students.  We’re celebrating over 85 years of academic excellence in the MontClare-Galewood Community.   The school is an integral part of St. William Parish at the four corners where Wrightwood and Sayre Avenues intersect.

We’re proud to offer our students and their families the Four Corners of Success:

·        Academic Excellence

·        Spiritual Formation

·        Social Development, and

·        Moral Growth

Our dedicated and experienced faculty provides every child with the best education possible so that all St. William graduates are prepared to go out and make a difference in their own lives, the lives of others and the world!

This website provides information about our programs, our curriculum, our mission and philosophy.  It’s meant to help introduce you to what we have to offer.

Our Mission

The St. William School community is united in our mission to educate children and nourish their spirit as we proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

As an integral part of our parish, we celebrate our diversity as we minister to students, families and the community—working together to instill gospel values, foster Christian attitudes and practice social justice.

Our Philosophy

At St. William School, we believe we are entrusted with the mission of Catholic education, which is to recognize students in their relationship with God, self, others and the world.

This statement of philosophy reflects the mission of the Church, which we carry out by studying Scripture, living Gospel values and following religious traditions.

At St. William School, we recognize that we’re part of our parish and our neighborhood.  We embrace racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity and encourage the school community to respect and appreciate the differences among all God’s people.

St. William School recognizes that the primary place of learning is the home.  Parents and guardians share the responsibility for faith, academic and emotional formation with teachers and the clergy.  A complete education can only occur through this combined effort.

Each student is unique, with his or her own emotional and intellectual needs.  Students learn in a variety of ways and progress at different rates.  They are active learners who strive to be responsible and cooperative.  They must be able to think independently, communicate their needs and ideas effectively, and listen attentively and responsively in order to benefit from learning.

St. William School fosters the intellectual, emotional, physical, creative, moral and spiritual development of its students and prepares them to one day make a positive difference in the world.

This is our philosophy.  These are the values we foster.
