Catholic Schools Week 2012
Dear Saint William Families,
Catholic Schools Week is Sunday, January 29th through Friday, February 3rd.
We are proud of Saint William School’s long history of educating children
intellectually, spiritually, morally, physically, and socially. This
year’s Catholic Schools Week theme highlights three key components that
contribute to our school’s ongoing mission: Faith, Academics, and
Service.
Catholic Schools Week is sponsored by the NCEA (National Catholic
Educational Association) and the USCCB (United States Conference of Catholic
Bishops) and has been part of our Catholic tradition for over 35 years.
Schools all across the United States plan and set aside this week to honor
the excellence in Catholic education.
Our celebration of Catholic Schools Week will be busy, fun-filled, and
prayerful. We look forward to seeing you at the Masses, our Open
House, Book Fair, and Lunch with a Special Person. Our agenda for
Catholic Schools Week is listed below.
Sunday, January 29th
· Family Mass at 9:30 A.M. (students wear school uniforms to church)
· School Open House from 10:30-12 P.M. All are welcome!
· Scholastic Book Fair in school library from 10:30-12 P.M. Students will
also be able to visit the Book Fair during their regular library periods on
Tuesday and Thursday.

classrooms. Children may invite a special person – parent, grandparent,
older brother or sister, family friend, aunt/uncle – to join them for lunch
in their classrooms. Guests bring their own bag lunches.
·Scholastic Book Fair in school library from 8:15-2 P.M.
Wednesday, February 1st
· Student Appreciation Day – no homework and special treat for all students.
Thursday, February 2nd
· Students will donate time to make plastic yarn (“plarn”) for our ongoing
community service project with Bethesda Home. Plarn is made by
recycling plastic shopping bags. The bags are cut, looped, and rolled
into useable material that is crocheted into sleeping mats. These mats
are then donated and used by Chicago area homeless.
· Scholastic Book Fair in school library from 8:15-2 P.M. (last day!)
Friday, February 3rd
· All school Mass celebrating Catholic Schools Week at 8:15 A.M.
· Students may dress down for the day in spirit wear or school gym clothes.
· At 1:15, an all-school Spirit Assembly in Liebrich Hall will celebrate
student achievement and involvement in student activities. Our
Catholic Schools Week Raffle will be drawn at this assembly.
We look forward to having you join us as we celebrate Catholic Schools Week.
Sincerely, The Catholic Schools Week Committee
