 Academic Excellence

St. William School provides a full academic program for preschool through eighth grade.  The curriculum incorporates principles of differentiated learning and current brain research to accommodate students’ learning styles and interests.

 Students are active learners who are challenged to become critical thinkers and problem solvers. 

Results of the Terra Nova Multiple Assessment indicate that St. William students achieve above the national norm in almost all areas and often score significantly above that norm.

St. William’s basic curriculum includes instruction in:

  Social Development

Developing social skills is an integral part of the educational process. 

St. William School offers varied opportunities to form friendships and learn leadership skills.

Partner Grades of older and younger students team up for:

·        field trips

·        special projects

·        celebrations, and

·        prayer.

The older students gain insight into what it means to mentor a younger student.  They learn to watch out for one another and obtain life skills in how to interact with students of different age levels.

Student activities also contribute to this growth.  Students become involved in:

·        Student Council, with an opportunity for leadership roles

·        After School Enrichment Classes

·        The Children’s Choir

·        Competitive Sports

·        Sports Camps

·        The Altar Server Ministry Program

·        Band

·        Yearbook

·        Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts

  Spiritual Formation

Faith Formation is a vital part of the education process at St. William School. The Religious Education Program emphasizes instruction in:

·        Reception of the Sacraments

·        Exposure to the Word of God

·        Ways to pray

·        Service opportunities

St. William teachers are committed to the message of Jesus Christ and the purpose of Catholic Education.  Religion is taught and Gospel values are practiced every day.

Students participate in many prayerful experiences, including:

·        Reflection and meditation

·        Prayer services

·        Liturgy preparation

·        Bible Study

 

Throughout the year, classes have an opportunity to plan Masses and participate in the Mass through reading scripture, singing, processions, and altar serving. 

Additionally, our Altar Servers assist the St. William Parish community through their ministry at Funeral Masses.

The Catholic Social Teachings are emphasized and students are regularly involved in school-wide and grade level service projects, reaching out to local and global communities in need.

The St. William School community strives to create a climate of respect, concern and love. 

The atmosphere at St. William encourages children to understand and appreciate themselves and others, and to discover and value racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity.

Moral growth is a result of building a life based on Gospel values.  Working with parents, St. William teachers nurture students in developing their moral compass of right and wrong based on Catholic teaching.
